The timeline: As for timeline, we love getting submissions from as many contributors as possible but would also like to let you know that due to high demand, it might take us up to 4 weeks for your article to be reviewed if you’re a Premium Member.

A List of Literary No-Nos for Your Written Works

  • Compromised Connections: Vizaca does not permit including paid links or mentions in articles, as it goes against the principles of transparency and trust in journalism.
  • Unacknowledged Financial Relationships Prohibited: Vizaca does not tolerate undisclosed financial relationships between the author and the subjects mentioned in the articles, as it undermines the credibility of the content.
  • Profiles or quotes from non-household name entrepreneurs, experts or businesses: Vizaca only features profiles or quotes from well-known entrepreneurs, firms or experts, as it ensures the quality and relevance of the content to its readers.
  • Previously Published Material Rejected: Vizaca does not allow articles that contain previously published material, as it goes against the principles of originality and creativity in journalism.
  • Plagiarism or copyright infringement: Vizaca strictly prohibits plagiarism or copyright infringement in its articles, as it goes against the principles of ethics and respect for intellectual property in journalism.

  • Dashes with Flair: We love em dashes with a space on either side, it adds a dash of excitement to your writing. Example: “The CEO—whom everyone adores—just announced a big project.”
  • Punctuation Perfection: Commas and periods belong inside the end quote marks, always. No double spaces after periods, ever. A well-placed comma can make all the difference in the world.
  • Single Quotes Rule: Use single quotes for quotes within quotes, headlines and subheads. Single quotes are like a secret handshake between writers and readers.
  • Hyperlink Hero: Put in your own hyperlinks, it’s a great way to add some extra information to your writing. Don’t link out to competitors, though, we want you all to ourselves.
  • Paragraph Proportions: Use one-sentence paragraphs sparingly, two to three sentences is the perfect length for a paragraph. Too many short paragraphs make your piece clunky, like trying to wear too many bracelets at once.
  • Subhead Symphony: Subheads should have the same parallel format, like a choir singing in harmony. If the first subhead is a full sentence, they all should be. Don’t capitalize words in subheads after the first word, it’s like shouting the first word in a song and then whispering the rest.
  • Gender Equality: Women hold up half the sky, so make sure to use “she” as well as “he” in your writing. Avoid awkward constructions by pluralizing your pronouns. Instead of “An employee has his job to do,” make it “Employees have their jobs to do.”
  • It’s all about “It”: A company, organization or government agency is an “it,” never a “they.” Use “its” for the possessive pronoun and “the audience’s members” before saying “them.” An audience is not a “them”.
  • Consistency is Key: Stick with the same verb tense and pronoun throughout your article. It’s like telling a story with a clear beginning, middle, and end.
  • Word Wizard: Check for repetition of the same words, points, and themes. It’s like playing a game of word bingo, but instead of shouting “bingo” you shout “no more repetition!”
  • Numeric Nomenclature: Numbers under 10 are written out unless they’re percentages. Numbers 10 or higher are written as numerals unless they start a sentence. Years are always expressed with numerals. Use “more than” instead of “over” with numbers. Use the % sign instead of spelling out “percent.”
  • Quote Quests: Check quotes with reliable sources, avoid sites like Brainyquote and unedited blogs. It’s like finding a needle in a haystack, but you’re looking for accurate quotes instead of a needle.
  • Jargon Juxtaposition: If you must use jargon, particularly abbreviations and acronyms, spell them out on the first reference. Avoid “SMB” altogether; it’s like trying to use a word nobody knows in Scrabble.
  • Name Game: Use the full name for the first reference, then the last name only for subsequent references. It’s like introducing yourself to a new friend; you use your full name the first time
